The Practice Analysis for Athletic Trainers (ATs)
is changing for 2018. The Practice Analysis, 7th
Edition (PA7) identifies essential knowledge and
skills for the athletic training profession and
serves as a blueprint for exam development
and continuing competence programming. The
Practice Analysis changes approximately every
5 years.
During your content review and future program
development, ensure the program content
aligns with PA7. PA7 includes domains and task
statements which outlined knowledge, skills and
abilities for entry level ATs. Match the content
of the program and educational objectives to at
least 1 of the task statements. Content deemed
not applicable or incongruent to PA7 is not
eligible for continuing education.
The Standards for BOC Approved Providers are
the requirements which continuing education
(CE) programs and their developers must align.
The Standards are divided into six functional
sections. Each section contains Standards
that define the required responsibilities of BOC
Approved Providers. The Standards are reviewed
each CE reporting period. CE programs must be
developed in compliance with all aspects of the
Standards.
As always, BOC staff are available to assist in
making this determination.
